evolution of numbers 7,8,9 - libra, scorpio, sagittarius
The evolution of signs 7 through 9; Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, is the stage of personal development where we are expanding beyond our small, limited self into something greater. In signs 1 through 3 we are building a solid foundation for our awareness to grow. We begin with Aries, the number 1, where all activities originate from, this is the beginning or birth. Adding to this initial awareness, in sign number 2, Taurus, we learn what will be required of us to stay alive. This is our capacity to stabilize and gather the resources to continue. When we add 1 and 2 together, we come to the number 3. From the stable foundation of Taurus, now we are ready to explore our unique environment, growing from trial and error to see what works and what doesn’t. In this way, 1 through 3 is our foundation for how this awareness will grow into something greater.
Signs 4 through 6; Cancer, Leo and Virgo, are the stages of personal development where we are learning how to dedicate ourselves fully to this new awareness. From the exploration of Gemini, we come to sign 4, Cancer, where we begin to feel this inner peace and contentment in our understanding of the world. We’ve gained the personal knowledge that we can persevere and grow, which brings us to sign number 5, Leo, which deals with change. Now that we feel secure in our path, Leo challenges our dedication and asks us to make sacrifices for this awareness to continue to grow. Once we have made the necessary sacrifices, we move to sign number 6, Virgo, where we are asked to devote ourselves fully to our path. We begin to find sparks of the divine in our daily activities and start to feel fulfillment within through our dedication and discipline to our path. Signs 4 through 6 are the stages of dedication to continue to grow into something greater.
In signs 7 through 9; Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, we are tasked with unifying this awareness into something greater. These are the stages where we are expanding beyond our small self to be a faithful friend of the world. From our devotion in Virgo, we move into sign number 7, Libra, where we begin to trade our devoted awareness with others. It is in this stage where we begin to see ourselves through our relationships and old forms are broken so new forms can come to life. From this transition, we move to sign number 8, Scorpio where we begin to lose our attachment to our individuality. Our focus becomes more on the whole and we develop our psychological well-being to grow deeper connections with others. From the inner fulfilment of Scorpio, we are able to allow this awareness to overflow to others. We begin to understand the path of faith and we move as an expression of that natural inspiration. Signs 7 through 9 show us how we will unify our awareness and express it outwardly.
We begin to unify our awareness in sign number 7, Libra, through the death and destruction of our notions and ideals related to the self. It is in Libra where the other is introduced as a way to evolve and grow on our path. Yavana Jataka describes Libra as a man bearing goods upon a balance, while standing in the marketplace (Kurczak, Rasi Class 2). This symbolizes the importance of trade in sign number 7 as a means of evolution. Libra teaches us that in order for things to evolve into something greater, that we must fully let go of the old to transform into something new. Libra is a masculine sign, indicated by a man bearing goods. This tells us that there is an active and assertive energy in this transition. We begin to see how we relate to others and what we are projecting through our relationships. We are tasked with becoming aware of our limitations and our capacity to successfully move from one state to another. Jaimini states, In Libra, trade (Kurczak, Rasi Class 2). It becomes clear that the theme of Libra is the successful exchange of energy with others. In any type of trade, we must let go in order to receive. In this way, Libra is all about finding our balance with the constant flow of change in our lives. It is no surprise that Libra comes after we have found our discipline and devotion in Virgo. It is from that space that we are able to grow into something greater beyond our small sense of self. Libra is the beginning of this evolution to become a unified expression of consciousness.
Once we have made peace with this constant flow of death and rebirth from sign number 7, we embody a higher fulfillment that transcends the dramas of life (Kurczak, Rasi Class 2). It is in sign number 8, Scorpio, where we begin to lose our attachment to our individuality because we have developed our psychological well-being and are not bound by any dogma. Yavana Jataka states that the eighth embodies a scorpion in its hole. The places of the eighth are caves, pits, holes, poisonous and stoney areas. (Kurczak, Rasi Class 2). This tells us that Scorpio feels most comfortable in the depths of our inner awareness. We learn that the energy of sign 8, is internal in its approach to grow and evolve. From the death and destruction of Libra, we are moving into a greater role within the world where our connections are deeply rooted. Symbolized by the Scorpion, we can infer that sign number 8 has the capacity to protect its inner security when disrupted by means of a strong defense. We learn from the places of Scorpio that this is a deeply spiritual sign that is comfortable in the deeper areas of life. Jaimini states, Scorpio deals with demons, frigidity, creeping animals and snakes (Kurczak, Rasi Class 2). This further clarifies the importance of this theme of psychological well-being in sign number 8. Demons represent our psychic ability and strength, teaching us that our inner sense of strength will be an important part of development in this stage. Frigidity lets us know that in Scorpio we are developing deeper bonds with others through energetic connections and the importance of maintaining our core. Scorpio is all about becoming unified within and integrating all parts of ourselves to the whole.
After we have developed a deep sense of inner peace from sign number 8, we move onto a larger stage of development where we move beyond our intellect and begin to understand the path of faith. The number 9 is a stage of completion. It is in Sagittarius that we complete the cycle of self-development to fully embody our highest self. Yavana Jataka states that here we see a man carrying a bow, his rear half is that of a horse and they say it represents the thighs of the creator (Kurczak, Rasi Class 2). The bow represents having the ability to tap into our natural inspiration to support others. We realize in this stage that we have the skill to sculpt our consciousness into something greater. In Sagittarius, we have the human consciousness of a man with the strength and power of a horse. This tells us that sign number 9 is steady, balanced, and ready to make changes if necessary. Representing the thighs of the creator reveals that there is a natural internal force within the sign of Sagittarius. The thighs indicate a connection to the whole. It is the thighs that connect our lower half to our upper half of our body. Jamini states, In Sagittarius, while preceding, a fall from a vehicle and height (Kurczak, Rasi Class 2). Indicating that there is this idea of carrying or conveying effort within the sign of Sagittarius. It tells us that having good preparation is necessary to continue down our path without falling. We look to Sagittarius to tell us where we will find inspiration and how we will get there. There is great responsibility in sign 9 and we are riding in a state of elevated consciousness. Sagittarius shows us the areas in which we develop higher knowledge that can only come from a deep sense of inner peace.
As we continue down this path of the evolution of our consciousness, we continue to grow our awareness into something greater. This stage of unifying our awareness through Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius reveals that there comes a point in our lives where others contribute to our growth and connection to the whole. Once we can understand the fact that we are part of something greater, it becomes easier to endure and stay the course. We learn from this stage the importance of the oneness of all things and when we start building our awareness outward that we have reached higher levels of consciousness. This is the natural progression of our human development, with each stage building off the previous and utilizing the energy to grow into something greater.
